Sep 30, 2022 2:30 PM | The Associated Students of the University of Redlands is proud to present Rita Moreno as the Fall 2022 Convocation and Lectures guest speaker!Rita Moreno remains one of the busiest stars in show business. Rita recently starred in the critically-acclaimed Latino remake of Norman Lear’s classic sitcom, One Day at a Time on Netflix. Prior to that, Rita has also appeared in guest-starring roles in primetime TV series such as Getting On, Jane The Virgin, Grey’s Anatomy, and Grace and Frankie.In 2015, Rita received the Kennedy Center Honor for her lifetime contributions to American culture. She served as the Grand Marshal of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in New York City and released her ‘first ever’ all-Spanish language album, Una Vez Más. Rita lends her voice to animated characters in productions like Nina’s World and the film, Rio 2. Her first book, Rita Moreno: A Memoir instantly became a New York Times Bestseller.Rita belongs to an elite group of only 12 living performers who have won entertainment’s grand slam of the industry's most prestigious awards: The Oscar, The Emmy, The Tony, and The Grammy. Her Oscar came in 1962 for playing the Latina spitfire, Anita in West Side Story.

Oct 3, 2022 11:30 AM | The Food Support Pantry is a resource available to all established full and part-time University of Redlands s facing food insecurities. The hope is this resource will serve s in their academic success, research suggests it's hard to study when you're hungry.The Pantry is located on the north side of North Hall. This space is an open, no-questions-asked space with shelves filled with dried goods, canned goods, and non-perishable items, as well as seasonal fresh produce from our sustainable farm and some limited refrigerated goods. We ask students to scan and sign in so we track the number of times that the pantry is used to help support our distribution partnerships.Food for this distribution is provided in partnership with Feeding America Riverside and San Bernardino. We also partner with the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County Food Bank. It is also funded through private donations, ASUR, and the Office of Community Service Learning.The Food Support Pantry is open Monday through Friday from 11:30 am - 5:30 pm.For more information about how to utilize the pantry or how to make donations, please contact the SURF Staff.
