On September 14, learn how to approach the essay prompts, brainstorm your experiences and goals, and begin outlining your responses. On September 21, learn practical strategies to strengthen your essays, ask questions, and receive feedback from Writing Center tutors. Bring your questions, ideas, or essay drafts!

Planning for STEM OPT Employment Monday, September 14, 2026 | 4:00-5:00 PM (Zoom)Are you pursuing a degree in an eligible STEM field? Join this workshop to learn how the 24-month STEM OPT Extension can allow you to continue gaining professional experience in the United States after your initial period of post-completion OPT.Topics include:- STEM OPT eligibility requirements- Qualifying STEM degree programs and CIP codes- Employer requirements, including E-Verify participation- Timeline for applying and maintaining work authorization- The Form I-983 Training Plan and employer responsibilities- Reporting requirements and validation deadlines- Maintaining F-1 status during the STEM OPT extension- Planning ahead to ensure a smooth transition from post-completion OPTThis workshop is recommended for F-1 students in STEM-eligible majors who are planning for employment after graduation. Attending early will help you understand the additional requirements and prepare for a successful transition to the STEM OPT extension.
