Q: Which network do I choose?

Q: What is SafeConnect and why am I being asked to download it?

A: SafeConnect is a piece of software known as a Policy Key. This is what allows your device to keep automatically connecting to the UoR network without having to reenter your credentials. The residential areas are a more secure network that requires this installation. Please download the software when prompted by our network.
If you are not prompted to download SafeConnect and you are having issues with your connection when you get back to your dorm, Forget the network and reconnect using your credentials. This should prompt the SafeConnect window. If SafeConnect is not prompted, and you are unable to connect to UoR, please submit a ticket to Resnet.

Q: Why am I being asked to trust something?

A: When you connect to the school Wi-Fi, your device may ask you to trust a certificate. This is just your device’s way of checking if the network is safe. Go ahead and tap Trust to finish connecting. We update our security certificates every year, so when you see this message again later—nothing to worry about.

Q: Can I use my wireless printer in my room?

A: No. The university network does not support wireless printing in residential areas. If you purchase a wireless printer, they usually have a port for corded printing. You need a cord connecting your device and printer to print. If you have trouble connecting your printer, Resnet is happy to assist you.
