2023 University of Redlands Men’s Soccer Schedule Preview
REDLANDS, Calif. – Head Men's Soccer for the University of Redlands, Ralph Perez announced his 2023 Schedule Tuesday. The Bulldogs will open with Bethesda University on Friday, September 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Farquhar Field. It will be the first of 16 regular season games, nine of which are occurring at home along with another seven on the road and four non-conference games.
Two days after their season opener UR will host UC Santa Cruz on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 7:00 p.m. This will be the third-straight season the Bulldogs have played the Banana Slugs. A year ago Redlands won at home 2-1 with UCSC finishing the season 6-10-3.
The Bulldogs will finish off their three game homestand to open the season with a matchup against LIFE Pacific on Sept. 8. These two teams did not play one another in 2022. The Warriors were 1-16 last season.
On Sept. 13 the Bulldogs open Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play as they travel to Chapman University for their first road contest. The Panthers were the 2022 SCIAC Regular Season Champions at 11-3-6, 6-1-4 SCIAC. The Bulldogs lost 1-0 on the road before winning 3-0 on senior night last season against the Panthers.
Redlands will take a quick break from conference play with the final non-conference game of the season as they travel to Vanguard on Sept. 16. The Lions finished 10-5-3 in 2022.
On Sept. 20 the Bulldogs host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps for a home SCIAC match-up. The Stags were 4-3-5 before seeing their season cut short. The lone 2022 meeting between these two teams was a scoreless draw.
Occidental College will come to Farquhar on Sept. 23 in the second game of a three game homestand. The Bulldogs and Tigers played only once last year with the Maroon and Grey pulling out a 2-1 home victory. The Tigers were the regular season runners-up as they went 10-4-4, 5-2-4 SCIAC.
The final game of the homestand will take place against Pomona-Pitzer on Sept. 27. The Sagehens edged the Bulldogs 4-3 at Farquhar in 2022. PP finished fourth in SCIAC at 7-7-1, 6-4 SCIAC.
The Bulldogs return to the road with a trip to Whittier College to end September on the 30th. The Bulldogs lost 2-1 at home but got a 5-2 road win late in the season in 2022. The Poets finished eighth in SCIAC at 3-10-2, 2-8-1 SCIAC.
Redlands ends their short road trip at Caltech on October 4. They cruised to a 5-0 road victory in 2022. The Beavers were seventh in the final conference standings at 3-8-2, 2-6-2 SCIAC.
The Maroon and Grey hosts California Lutheran University on Oct. 7. The Bulldogs lost 1-0 on the road in the regular season and then pulled out a draw in full-time in the SCIAC Tournament before falling on penalty kicks. The Kingsmen finished third in the conference at 5-5-8, 4-2-4 SCIAC.
The Bulldogs will travel to the University of La Verne on Oct. 11 before the Leopards return the favor on Oct. 18. The Leopards were sixth a year ago at 4-13-3, 3-7-1 SCIAC. Redlands won both meetings outscoring the Leos 7-0 (2-0 and 5-0).
Senior night will be Saturday, Oct. 21 at 7:00 p.m. when UR hosts Chapman University for the second meeting of the season.
The final two games of the regular season will be on Oct. 25 and 28 at Occidental and Cal Lutheran, kickoffs set for 7:00 p.m. and 10:30 a.m.
The SCIAC Tournament will be taking place on November 1 and 4 with the top four teams from the regular season participating with the higher seeds hosting the lower seed with the tournament winner earning the automatic qualifying spot in the NCAA Division III National Championships.
