CWPA Division III Preseason Polls
REDLANDS, Calif. – Following a historic 2022 season for University of Redlands Men's Water Polo the Bulldogs enter 2023 as the No. 1 team in Division III according to the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA).
The CWPA released its annual men's water polo Division III preseason poll on Wednesday, placing the reigning USA Division III Water Polo Collegiate National Champion Bulldogs at the top of the 12-team list. Redlands topped the coaches poll as the unanimous pick receiving 100 points.
Redlands ended 2022 as the No. 1 team in Division III following a run through the SCIAC Tournament where they upset then No. 4 Claremont-M-S (7-6) and No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer (9-8) to qualify for the Collegiate National Championships. There they went on to upset No. 2 Johns Hopkins University (18-6) and then host and No. 1 Cal Lutheran (11-6).
The Maroon and Grey will begin their national title defense next weekend, September 2-3 with four games at the Air Force Academy Invite. UR opens the season on Sept. 2 against UC Davis (8:30am) and Air Force Academy (4:30pm) and will end the trip going up against Johns Hopkins (8:30am) and Ottawa University (1:30pm) on Sept. 3.
